Our new Minibus

At the moment the community of South Aston United Reformed Church is in an excited mood because we have just taken delivery of a brand new LDV Maxus 15 seat minibus. This is the fourth minibus we have had since the church was opened thirtysix years ago but it is the first new one that we have been able to purchase. That we have been able to do so now is due to a legacy left to the Church by Mrs. Dorrie Dyer, a member who died a few years ago. Dorrie and her sister Mable were life long members of South Aston and one of its predecessors, Wheeler Street Congregational Church. Dorrie was an excellent pianist and enthusiastic choirister and she and Mable, in their later years, liked nothing more than  going on outings in the minibus. So when the time came to replace the old one it was a relatively easy decision for the Elders to take to use Dorries legacy to buy a new one.
The Maxus comes fully equiped with all the features necessary to transport elderly and or disabled people in safety and comfort. This includes a remote controlled electric tailgate lift for passengers or wheelchairs.
The minbus represents one of, if not, the most important asset we have at our disposal at South Aston to use in pursuit of our mission to help all members of  the community to live an enjoyable life regardless of any mobility difficulties they may have. The bus is not exclusively used for the elderly or disabled, many able bodied people and members of our youth groups make full use of it as well.
